Stand-up comedians have become record breakers!

Gary Black and James Marno, along with Trampled Bat partner Tommy Reid, beat the former comedy record in the show at the Glasgow Comedy Festival boasting 19 acts.

The event at the Classic Grand became bigger and better than originally planned when two comedians who went along to see what all the fuss was about ended up on stage.

Original plans were for 17 acts to take to the stage during last month’s event, and so they managed, with a little unaspected guests, to beat the former comedy festival record of just 11 comedians.

Gary said: “The whole night was amazing. The place was so busy we ran out of seats for everyone. A real highlight of the night was the extra comedians that came along to see the show and ended up doing sets.”

The Trampled Bat trio, who also run their own comedy podcast website, are now thinking about what to do next year. They are not really interested in breaking their own record, but they surely want to do something different.

Gary also organises the Live at the Rowantree comedy night at the Rowantree Tavern in Jamestown, which takes place on the first Thursday night of each month. He is also involved in the Stand Up for the Sons comedy event at Dumbarton FC’s stadium on Saturday, June 4.
