The Toronto International Film Festival will open its gates during September 8 to 18 and already there was announced an interesting film line up. One of the films very much expected to the TIFF 2011 is Breakaway, a hockey drama which has as stars stand up comedian Russell Peters and actor Rob Lowe. Breakaway’s action is set in an Indo-Canadian community.
Stand up comedian Russell Peters said in a video that producers posted on YouTube: "When I first started doing standup, I did a joke about an all-Sikh ice hockey team called the Toronto Maple Sikhs. Who would have thought 20 years later I'm in a film about an all-Sikh ice hockey team?" The hockey drama Breakaway was co-written by its star, Vinay Virmani.
The Toronto International Film Festival already has announced two more films: David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method and Sarah Polley's Take This Waltz.
