Ricky Gervais' The Office going to China

British comedian Ricky Gervais has revealed that he is taking his hit show The Office to China.

Ricky Gervais posted on his blog the other day "We are about to start work on developing a Chinese "The Office" .

Ricky Gervais' original sitcom The Office first aired in 2001, in the UK, until now being sold to six countries around the world, including US and Israel, the NBC's US adaptation seventh season being scheduled for broadcasting on September 23.

The UK version of The Office show introduced David Brent and the Chinese Brent is yet to be chosen.

Developing The Office show for a Chinese television can be pretty challenging , due to the fact that all media in China operate under tight state control, but Ricky Gervais seems prepared since he said that developing the show for China is "amazing news".
