Reginal Hunter accused of using the "n word" during PFS award show

Professional Footballers Association received dozens of complaints about the PFS awards ceremony. The guests were offended by the black American comedian Reginald D Hunter as he repeatedly used the “n word” during his performance at the dinner.

The PFA was inundated with complaints from guests at the dinner. “Well he’s a comedian, isn’t he?” Gordon Taylor, the PFA chief executive, said.

Hunter performed for 30 minutes at the Grosvenor Hotel in London and – as the guests said – he used the racist word all along. The professional footballers and seniors were shocked about his rudeness especially since the subject has become an emotive one over the last years with John Terry and Luis Suarez receiving bans for racial abuse and England captain was cleared of racism in a criminal trial.

The organizers believe that there was no mistake in allowing Hunter to perform. HE is a comedian after all, he makes jokes and moreover, he is black so if he offended someone, that would be himself.

"I think there were a few raised eyebrows over the comedian, but that is the sort of thing you can't control. It was unfortunate. "It's a difficult subject in football and with him not being fully aware of how emotive it has been in football that was probably difficult for him," said Cordon Taylor.
