Patrick Monahan Wins “Show Me the Funny” Talent Show

Irish-Iranian stand-up comedian Patrick Monahan won the audience vote after competing against two other finalists and he is now officially the winner of this ITV 1′s ‘Show Me the Funny’ 2011 edition. He is now the happy possessor of £100,000 and about to embark a nationwide tour. The next step is the release of his own stand up comedy DVD.

Stand up comedian Patrick Monahan, who used material from his own family for his routine said about his win: “I’m genuinely shocked. I thought I was going to go out after the first week.” But it seems like the jury and the viewers thought otherwise. In the finally, hosted by Jason Manford, each comedian delivered five minutes of new stand-up material to a live audience, which included judges Alan Davies and comedy critic Kate Copstick. After a public phone vote, Patrick Monahan was elected as the winner of ‘Show Me the Funny’ stand up comedy talent show.

Patrick Monahan’s 12-date tour will begin on 17 September, with his DVD released on 28 November. He will be supported by the two runners-up on his tour.
