Jo Brand Stands Up for Animals Benefit

Stand up comedian Jo Brand is the head line act for a comedy night in the benefit of the UK’s International Animal Rescue (IAR). The event hosted by the self titled “king of light entertainment” Lenny Beige is being held at the Leicester Square Theatre on Friday, September 23. The doors open at 8 p.m.

International Animal Rescue is an animal welfare non-profit organization based in the United Kingdom that comes to the aid of wild and domestic animals with hands-on rescue and rehabilitation. IAR specializes in comprehensive sterilization and vaccination programs for stray dogs and cats, particularly in developing countries. They also work to educate the public in the humane treatment of all animals. International Animal Rescue has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, India, Indonesia, Malta and the Netherlands.

Stand up comedian Jo Brand is a BAFTA award winning stand up comedienne, writer and actress from UK. In 2003, she was listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy. In 2004, Brand appeared in a special episode of What Not to Wear, where fashion gurus Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine gave her a makeover.
