George Lopez to star in new comedy TV series

FX made public their dedication to comedies. The network talked about signing a deal with comedian George Lopez to star and exec produce his first TV series after the former ABC’s “George Lopez”. This project has a lot of potential and promises a big audience for FX.

The half-hour series titled “Saint George” will center a recently divorced entrepreneur and father (Lopez) who’s trying to find balance between work, family and other obligations (11 year-old son, uncle, ex-wife, mother just moved in). The series will begin production in August and if the first 10 episodes are successful, there will be another 90.

Another example is Charlie Sheen who signed same deal and now his show “Anger Management” is quite stable (even if it’s not half funny as “Two and a Half Men” used to be).

The Lopez show order comes months before the launch of FX’s comedy-centric sister channel FXX, which, starting Sept. 2, will become the home of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, “The League”, “Legit”, “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell”, and one more comedy to be announced.

George Lopez is known for his bitter sweet comedy style and, of course, for his conflicts with Carlos Mencia, Jay Leno, Erik Estrada, Kirstie Alley and ABC Entertainment.

He is a clever comic delivering punch lines mixed with facial expressions with great timing. You don’t want to hate him since he is vindictive and harsh and all this in a comic way. He might make fun of you without you even notice. So, don’t hate him, love him and enjoy his show.
