Billy Crystal lands new deal for FX series "The Comedians"

Billy Crystal might be getting old but his jokes are fresher than ever. After many decades of ruling the stand-up scenes, Crystal is set to star in FX comedy pilot for the half-hour series “The Comedians”.

He teams up with a new generation comedian for the Swedish format-based show this summer. "Comedians" comes from show runners Larry Charles(Seinfeld), Matt Nix (Burn Notice) and Ben Wexler (Community, Arrested Development), who will serve as writers and executive producers of the project, along with Crystal.

“It truly is an honor to be in business with Billy Crystal and Larry Charles, two of the all-time greats in comedy. We have also wanted for some time to be in business with Matt Nix, who has done such an amazing job creating and running Burn Notice. They, along with Ben Wexler, are an unbeatable team and we’re incredibly excited about this project.” said FX Networks president John Landgraf.

The comedians and actor is also voicing Mike in the upcoming animated comedy “Monsters University” and plans to play Mrs. Brown in 2014 TV series “Boys & Girls”.
