Eddie Griffin (Personal Life, Career, Kids)

American actor and stand-up comedian Edward "Eddie" Griffin was born July 15, 1969. He's best known for his sitcom, Malcolm and Eddie, along with co-star, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and his role in the 2002 comedy film, Undercover Brother . He also made headlines in 2007 for crashing a Ferrari Enzo.

Personal Life

Stand-up comedian Eddie Griffin was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He was raised by his single mother, Doris along with his siblings Luther and Wilbert Griffin. After attending high school in Kansas City, he enrolled as a biological engineering major at Kansas State University, but left after three months.

Stand-up comedian Eddie Griffin has been married twice. He married his first wife, Carla in 1983 when he was 16 years old but divorced one year later. Griffin married his second wife, Rochelle in 2002 but has since divorced. He has two children, a boy – Eddie Griffin Jr, and a girl – Elexa Griffin.

In 1998, the comedian suffered a heart attack while rehearsing a dance sequence on the set of Malcolm and Eddie. It seems like bad luck followed him and in March 2007, Eddie Griffin participated in a charity race at Irwindale Speedway to promote the film Redline, using a Ferrari Enzo owned by Daniel Sadek. During a practice run, Griffin accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and lost control of the Enzo, crashing hard into a concrete barrier. He walked away unscathed, but the $1.5 million supercar was badly damaged.

Career

Comedian Eddie Griffin starred in many films; most known are The Meteor Man (1993), Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999), Double Take (2001), Undercover Brother(2002), John Q (2002), Scary Movie 3 (2003), Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo (2005) and Norbit (2007). Later in 2007, Eddie starred alongside Steven Seagal in Urban Justice a thriller set in New Mexico.

The comedian also costarred in the UPN television series Malcolm and Eddie (1996–2000). These series made is name known throughout U.S.A. This television project attracts other ones like The Year Without a Santa Claus (2006), Eddie Griffin Going For Broke (2009). He also made an appearance on Chappelle's Show in the skit "World Series of Dice" as the character "Grits n' Gravy".

Stand-up comedian Eddie Griffin also starred in films like The Last Boy Scout (1991), House Party 3(1994), Jason's Lyric (1994), The Walking Dead (1995), Armageddon (1998), The Mod Squad (1999), Foolish (1999), All Jokes Aside (2000), Picking Up the Pieces (2000), Double Take (2001), John Q (2002), The New Guy (2002), Pinocchio (2002), Blast! (2004), My Baby's Daddy (2004), The Wendell Baker Story (2005), Date Movie (2006), Irish Jam (2006), Redline (2007), I’m Rick James (2007), Beethoven's Big Break (2008), Bunyan and Babe (2010). He has also appeared on commercials for Miller Beer's Man Laws.

As a stand-up comedian, Eddie Griffin is generally considered really talented, displaying a flamboyant, cinematic style. This is proved by his number 62 ranking on Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time.

Comedian Eddie Griffin's stand-up career began when he accepted a dare from his cousin to take the stage on amateur night at a local comedy club.

His latest release is You Can Tell’em I Said It, in 2011. Eddie Griffin is well-known for his comedic routine of imitating Michael Jackson on crack cocaine.

Aside from his stand-up and acting career, stand-up comedian Eddie Griffin also performed on two tracks from Dr. Dre's 1999 album, 2001. In his own discography, we can find Message in the Hat (1993) and The Message (1999).
