Adam Ferrara - Personal Life and Career

Born February 1966 in Long Island, Adam Ferrara is an American actor and comedian. He is currently playing the role of Chief "Needles" Nelson on the well received critically FX series Rescue Me and is also a co-host on the U.S. version of Top Gear.

Personal Life

Adam grew up on Long Island, NY in an Italian-American family and is engaged to indie actress Alex Tyler, who is also on the cover of his comedy DVD Funny as Hell.In his high school year book, soon to be comedian Adam Ferrara was named “Class Clown”. This seemed to be a prediction for his career in the comedy business.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in finance, but despite his penchant for the exact sciences, Adam knew that his true passion was acting and comedy, so he decided to audition for the comedy club on Long Island. Since that time, he began working in different fields of acting performance.

Comedian Adam Ferrara is a fan of the Beatles, and his main hobbies include playing the guitar, enjoy good cinema and billiard. His boyhood friend is Anthony Cumia, co-host of the Opie and Anthony show on radio stations across America and XM radio.He currently lives in New York City.


Stand-up comedian Adam Ferrara was nominated twice for the American Comedy Award for Best Male Stand-Up. Ferrara has frequently performed on Comedy Central Presents. He also performs stand-up at Caroline's and the Comedy Cellar, both of which are in Manhattan. Ferrara tours often, performing stand-up at the top clubs around the country.

He has performed stand-up several times on The Tonight Show, The Late Show with David Letterman, and Comedy Central.Adam Ferrara performed his famous one hour stand-up special which aired on Comedy Central entitled Funny As Hell, and was released on DVD the same day.

Adam Ferrara also performed in an impressive number of movies along his career. He started in 1993 with “Flying Blind”. Between 1996 and 1998 he played in “Caroline in the City” and in 1997 he had roles in “Social Studies” and “Dads”. He ended the ‘90es with “The Love Boat – The Next Wave”, in 1999.

In the new millennium, Adam Ferrara performed in “The Job” series (2001 - 2002). In 2003, “Ash Tuesday” and “Law and Order” were on his appearances list. In 2004 continued with “Noise” and “The King of Queens” – until 2007.

The year 2006 was quite full for actor Adam Ferrara. He played in “The Last Request”, “A Marry Little Christmas” and the famous series “Rescue Me”. In 2008 had an appearance in the movie “Definitely, Maybe”.

Adam Ferrara had a full 2009 as well. He performed in : “Paul Blart: Mall Cop”, “Winter of Frozen Dreams”, “The Unusuals”, “Around the Block”, “The Pack”, and “Dirty Movie”.

Since 2010, Ferrara co-hosts the American version of Top Gear.
