Red White and Screwed is a stand-up comedy performed by Lewis Black and directed by Paul Miller. The one hour comedy show was released on October 3, 2006 by the HBO Home Video.
The stand-up comedian is well known for his comedy style, his radical honesty in the form of hilarity, which often includes simulating a mental breakdown, or an increasingly angry rant, ridiculing history, politics, religion, trends and cultural phenomena. You can notice the comedian’s style while performing his sketches in this stand-up comedy.
In Red, White and Screwed, as in many of his performances, the stand-up comedian’s approach is to give a punchline- or one that might look like one- and pepper it with a vocal style and slight physical mannerisms that are the most ingenious. The stand-up comedian covers a vast array of subjects that all fit with today's failing economy: recession, abortion, frozen embryos, defecation habits, fossils, bad language, the bank failures, the housing market collapse and, of course, Dick Cheney and George Bush.
My favorite sketch of the stand-up comedy special involves this style or attack on Dick Cheney going duck hunting, and its metaphor for the Middle East. The stand-up comedian’s routine includes also other political issues like: the Iraq war and homophobia. The comedian also described his upbringing in Silverspring, Maryland and why he tells people he's from D.C.
I definitely recommend this stand-up comedy special to anyone who likes a good laugh and most of all anyone who dislikes Dick Chaney or George Bush. In this routine, the comedian brings everything that is wanted in stand-up comedy up on stage with him: his irony, his sarcasm, he brings his jokes and his act. Many of you may think that it is not right to swear maybe as much as the stand-up comedian does but he is extremely funny while performing his sketches.
Watch this stand-up comedy DVD and you will be able to start breathing again during these difficult economic times. The cost of the DVD is by far a lot less than the cost of a mental therapist or an extended stay at a mental hospital for any economic stress you might be going through right now. Believe me, your cheeks will hurt after watching this comedy routine!
