Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget is another stand-up comedy video, uncensored and extended, produced by Joel Gallen, DVD released in 30th December 2008. The stand-up comedian and actor Robert Saget is the roastee, being roasted by former actor colleagues and other stars in the stand-up comedy video.
In Roast of Bob Saget, the vilest of the imagination of the stand-up comedians unleash, in a comedy dealing with Saget’s career, life and propensity of dating younger women. The video is not for those easily offended, as the comic act built up by the Comedy Central comedians contain some very shocking parts and unexpected mentioning of aspects that are not easily and freely discussed normally. Nevertheless, comparing their stand-up performances with Bob Saget’s stand-up comedy, this video is actually much more digestible.
Comedian Cloris Leachman is at her best in the video, almost incinerating the victim, Bob Saget. She shows that stand-up comedy is not exclusively for males, and she does this brilliantly in Roast of Bob Saget. Her roast was the most hilarious and her short performance is one of the best from Comedy Central. John Stamos is himself priceless, rising the video in the top of the roasts from Comedy Central.
It’s always fun to watch the victims of a stand-up roast, but Bob Saget makes for a grand, good-natured and funny audience. Watching his reactions while he is being subjected to various and humiliating situations gives me a clue about how people should really treat stand-up comedy videos, even if they dislike the style, or the lack of political correctness, or maybe feel offended by jokes addressed to a community of people. It is also said that behind every good joke lies a great amount of truth. Maybe is this aspect that made Bob Saget facing the humility in the video.
You can laugh and enjoy Roast of Bob Saget, if not for the jokes than for Saget’s personality. Buy and watch Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget, but share it with the most intelligent friends you have. It’s a good choice, one that you will not regret, as far as I’m concerned.
